The 50 new jobs will grow Rhode Island’s personal income, sales and corporate tax revenue by $1.8 million while increasing its GDP by $11.4 million.

The giant undertaking is centralized at the organization’s Yawkey Distribution Center in South Boston, where food is received, sorted, and distributed to 530 member agencies and 60 direct distribution programs. Much of the food cycling through the Yawkey Distribution Center is donated by the food industry or obtained through financial contributions.

As music therapy has been proven to promote the emotional well-being of at-risk youth, Crossroads Programs has launched the Blue Light Music Program in partnership with the premier recording entity Blue Lights Digital Studio. Through the Blue Light Music Program, youths are able to sing, write songs, play instruments, and record and mix music in a safe, collaborative environment. Participants also receive support and assistance from studio instructors who teach skills that help them lead productive lives. The Blue Light Music Program requires support from donors to continue operation, and a donation of $250 provides one week of music therapy for five young people. Sessions consist of six hours per week.
